My stepmother is not a native English speaker, so sometimes she would say a word that I didn't understand at all. There was one word she repeated daily from the time I was very young, and all I could gather was that it had something to do with manners and being ladylike. Often it was accompanied by a hard pinch.

It wasn't until I went to a bookstore one day that I realized she was saying "etiquette"! When I tried to explain it to her, she said, "yes, what did you think I was saying?"

Well, now I know for sure the reason why I liked you from day 1, because you are an *etiquette buff* like me:-) Seriously, I was raised by a very proper southern mother, and the rules of etiquette were not only a part of my daily life, but I welcomed the structure, order, and sense of it all with open arms!

Many females on the spectrum share this same etiquette fascination. In my experience I have found that females on the spectrum will typically either share our same interest in etiquette or abhor it -- I haven't found many who are tepid with regards to etiquette.

As a child I loved reading Emily Post.....I hung on every word she wrote! Needless to say, I made a very special southern mother quite proud during my *Emily Post Days* !
