Speaking at ASA Conference

So I’ve been wanting to tell you guys for a while and I think I can now – I’m going to be speaking at the Autism Society (ASA) national conference in Dallas this summer.  Alex Plank from Wrong Planet and Jason Ross from Drive Mom Crazy will be on the panel with me, and we’ll be talking about autism blogs and online communities.

It’s a great topic for the conference to explore, and not just because social media is timely but because online communication opens so many doors for autistics.

Who’s going to the conference?  I’m looking forward to meeting up with @RainbowProject and anyone else who’s going to be there!

  1. Hi.

Don’t forget to fix up the Drive Mom Crazy blog, as Aspie Teacher is before it in the link.

Exciting as, and not before time!

Congrats on the ASA conference speaking engagement, Sandy!

Progress in a large organization like ASA can be slow sometimes, but the more that the leadership and rank-and-file hear from self-advocates, the more the organization will change for the good.

Cool. It’ll be neat to meet you !

Is there a scheduled gathering of bloggers / website admins planned? It would be interesting to meet some of the better known bloggers and exchange stories or advice.

Not that I’m aware of, but that sounds like a great idea. If there is one and I just don’t know, someone please fill me in! Are you going to be there?

Maybe we can look at one of the lunch breaks as an opportunity for “bloggers / family” to gather. I’m arriving early Wednesday and departing Sunday.

It would be a great way to learn which blogs we should add to our links. (Mimic the old “Webring” concept — as Autism Hub was having issues?)
